In return, you’ll receive a lengthy editorial letter from me that addresses the fundamental elements of story in your work. I’ll comment on structure, dramatic arc, character, setting, voice, point of view, theme, imagery, and more. I will also return the manuscript to you with in-text feedback, which I generate contemporaneously but review after reading the full manuscript so that my notes consider the work as a whole. In a follow-up conversation, we’ll discuss my feedback and devise the best plan to move forward.

Rates for developmental editing vary according to the length of the manuscript, but generally range between $1500 and $2000 for a novel or memoir and $800 for a screenplay. 

I am also available to provide feedback on shorter works, including personal essays and short stories. Rates vary according to length with a minimum fee of $100.
